What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.  This information is sent to a third party called Akismet for further review. Akismet has assured us that they do not sell or use any user information accept for the sole purpose of determining whether or not a post or comment is spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you fill out a contact form on our site, the information entered into the form is emailed to one of our administrators and also saved in our database. Other hidden data such as browser type, device type, IP address, and timestamp are also saved in the database.  This can help us determine any necessary information needed to service your account and provide you with excellent customer service.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

ShipStation

When you place an order through our online store front, your information is to our shipping system which is called ShipStation.  ShipStation stores your information for the purposes of helping us ship and track the shipment of your product.

PayPal

If you opt to make your payment through PayPal, the information attached to your may be sent directly to them.

Google

This website uses google to track analytics.  Your information may at times be sent to Google only for the purpose of tracking the functionality, errors, and uses of our website.

How long we retain your data

If you make a purchase in our store, you information such as address, email, phone number, name and shipping information are stored indefinitely on our system. This is to help us track your shipment, help you make a reorder and negotiate any returns or customer service for your particular purchase.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

The website administrators may see your information such as email, phone number, address, and name. We may from time to time send out a promotional email to our customers and registered users. Any of our emails includes an unsubscribe link and you may at any time opt to be removed from any and all promotional emails.

Registered users may edit account information and preferences from the My Account page.

How we protect your data

Your data is encrypted by Let’s Encrypt and hosted on WPEngine secure servers.  Website administrators’ activities are all tracked, and administrators are not permitted to download CSV or Excel lists of user data.  We ensure that your information is only used for customer service and order fulfillment.

What data breach procedures we have in place

In the unlikely event of a data breach we will do everything we can to secure your information.  All of the data stored on the site is encrypted. Sensitive information such as passwords will never be viewable by anyone, even website administrators. In the even of the breach, we will pull the site off line immediately and seek a remedy to secure the information.

Removing your data from our system

If you would like for us to remove your data from our system, please request a removal in writing. We will then remove all your data within 2 business days.
