How Electropollution May Be Affecting You
Electropollution and Health
A growing body of solid science points to concerning connections between electropollution and health. Studies suggest this fast-growing type of pollution can have very specific effects within our bodies and may lead to a wide variety of short-term and long-term health problems, even at levels of exposure well below current safety standards.
Since 1990, there has been unprecedented growth of a variety of chronic diseases and conditions in the United States and beyond, including autoimmune, inflammatory, and neurological diseases; metabolic disorders; and chronic health conditions such as headaches/migraines, sleep disorders, fibromyalgia, and fatigue. Fertility issues, reproductive problems, and birth defects are also on the rise.
What is causing this increased incidence of “germless” health conditions? A growing body of evidence suggests that our increased exposure to electropollution may be one important contributing factor.
As use of modern electronics and wireless devices has skyrocketed, so has our exposure to the artificial electromagnetic radiation (EMF/EMR) they generate. This energy appears to be disrupting natural electrical impulses within our bodies that control a wide range of biological processes essential for good health and wellness.
Many scientific studies now show links between electromagnetic radiation (both wireless and dirty electricity) and the health conditions below.
- Heart Problems (pain/pressure, palpitations, arrhythmias)
- Fertility Issues
- Behavior/Learning Problems
- Concentration Issues
- Memory Problems
- Mood Issues (depression, anxiety, irritability)
- Sleep Disturbances
- Muscle/Joint Pain
- Leg/Foot Pain
- Fatigue and Weakness
- Numbness and Tingling Sensations
- Tremors and Muscle Spasms
- Sinus Problems
- Digestive Issues
- Skin Problems (itching, burning, facial flushing)
What Experts Have to Say
Many noted scientists around the world are findings connections between electropollution and health. They believe this fast-growing form of pollution poses a serious public health threat.
In 2007 and again in 2012, a group of international scientists and public health professionals jointly published the BIOINITIATIVE REPORT in an effort to alert the public to possible risks of technologies that emit electromagnetic radiation (EMR). The report cites thousands of scientific studies that associate low-level exposures to radio frequency radiation, microwave radiation, and other forms of electro-pollution with dozens of diseases and biological effects in humans, including cancer, Alzheimer’s, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), autism, male infertility, miscarriage, insomnia, allergic and inflammatory responses, heart palpitations and arrhythmias, memory loss, concentration/attention issues, and more.
In 2001 and 2011 respectively, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer designated extremely low frequency EMF and radiofrequency EMF (including microwaves) as possible human carcinogens.
Experts studying the connections between electropollution and health believe that much more protective safety standards related to EMR emissions are necessary. They also believe that individuals should take a proactive role in reducing their exposure to all types of potentially harmful electromagnetic energy.
