We’d like to wish you and your loved ones the very best as we all navigate the uncharted waters of the COVID-19 pandemic. While these times are indeed turbulent and uncertain, the best medical experts and leaders in the U.S. and abroad are reminding us that we CAN get through this…TOGETHER… each doing our part.

The CDC, local health departments, and other agencies are providing many helpful tips and directives for protecting ourselves and others – from frequent hand washing to “social distancing” to formal shelter-in-place orders.

This is also a perfect time to do all we can to STRENGTHEN OUR IMMUNE SYSTEMS. You’ve likely seen articles highlighting common ways to do this… Eating nutritious meals. Exercising. Getting quality sleep. Managing stress and anxiety. Taking immune-boosting supplements (e.g., vitamin C, vitamin D, probiotics, echinacea/goldenseal, zinc, elderberry syrup or extract). Etc.

We’d like to encourage you to consider an additional step…

LOWERING YOUR EXPOSURE TO EMF POLLUTION

By EMF pollution, we mean the artificial electromagnetic fields/radiation (EMF/EMR) from wireless technologies, electronics, modern appliances, energy-efficient lights, and more. You can’t see or smell this type of pollution, but these days, it’s all around us nearly all of the time.

A growing body of scientific evidence shows that chronic exposure to man-made EMF/EMR can have a wide variety of negative health effects, among them disrupting the immune system and, therefore, our ability to fight off illness and disease.

Below are some basic tips for reducing your exposure to EMF pollution. Some of these tips may be easy to implement now. Others may need to wait until materials or professional help become easier to access again.

While this list is far from exhaustive, hopefully it will give you ideas for getting started or continuing your journey.

COMMON TYPES OF EMF POLLUTION

Radio Frequency (RF) / Microwave Radiation
From wireless devices and infrastructure such as
cell phones/towers, cordless phones, laptops, tablets,
WiFi, smart watches, smart utility meters, radar, etc.

Power Frequency Electric and Magnetic Fields
From power lines, electrical wiring in buildings,
power cords, and devices that run on electricity

Dirty Electricity
From modern electronics, appliances, energy-efficient
lights, etc. that must change or manipulate standard
electricity in one way or another to operate
(Includes many devices today.)

CREATE A LOW-EMF SLEEPING ENVIRONMENT

When we sleep, our bodies are busy growing and repairing cells. This is essential for good health, especially now, when we want our bodies strong and ready to “battle” infection if necessary. Because EMF pollution can interfere with sound sleep, it’s important to reduce sources in your sleep space. Following are some specific ideas for how to do this.

 

  • If you use WiFi (wireless Internet) in your home, turn OFF and/or unplug your router at night. All wireless devices emit RF/microwave radiation. (Those that run on electricity, like WiFi routers, are also sources of dirty electricity and/or power frequency fields.)
  • Turn OFF your cell phone while sleeping or put it in airplane mode. (If you put the phone in airplane mode, make sure WiFi, Bluetooth, and other wireless features on the device are also turned off.)
  • Do NOT charge your cell phone on your bedside table (or in your bedroom at all) while sleeping, even if it’s in airplane mode. Battery chargers create and emit dirty electricity, another source of potentially harmful EMF pollution.
  • Turn OFF all other wireless devices in your home before bedtime. These might include laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, cordless phone base stations, etc. (If you’re concerned you’ll miss urgent phone calls while sleeping, maintain a corded landline phone for this purpose.)
  • Take off smart watches and other wearable technologies before bedtime and store them in a metal container or disable their wireless features. (As a side note, we recommend against wearing wireless watches at all. They emit radiation directly onto your body at very close range. This is not good during the day or at night.)
  • Remove AC powered clocks and other electrical devices from your beside table. They can be sources of electric and magnetic fields, as well as dirty electricity. Use a battery-powered alarm clock or a phone in airplane mode (not charging) to wake you up if needed.
  • If you have a lamp next to your bed, plug it into an “OUTLET POWER SWITCH” rather than directly into an electrical outlet. Turn the lamp on and off using the outlet power switch rather than the on/off switch on the lamp. This will help prevent electric fields and dirty electricity from traveling up and radiating off the lamp’s power cord when the lamp is off. (Outlet power switches are available in manual and remote control models. Check out these examples: Remote Control Power Switch and Manual Power Switch.)
  • Replace electric blankets with one or more warm non-electric blankets or comforters.
  • If your bed or bed frame plugs into an electrical outlet, unplug it before going to sleep. (When shopping for a new bed, seriously consider getting one that doesn’t require AC power and avoid metal bed frames.)
  • Do NOT use a wireless baby monitor. These monitors expose your child to harmful RF/microwave radiation. Explore wired options or rely on the “old fashioned” method (i.e., having your child sleep in a nearby room). Trust that you’ll hear your little one(s) if they really need you.
  • Stop using screens (e.g., TV’s, computers, tablets, cell phones) at least one hour before bedtime. The blue light from screens can interfere with the production and release of melatonin, a hormone important to sleep and also a potent antioxidant. When you do use screens at night (or anytime really), consider using BLUE LIGHT GLASSES to help prevent the damaging effects of blue light.
  • Consider turning OFF the electrical circuits that affect your sleeping area. There is a process you can go through yourself or with the help of an EMF consultant to determine which combination of circuits will produce the best results. Before going to sleep, you can turn the designated circuits off manually at the circuit breaker panel. Or, you can have a remote cutoff switch installed, which will enable you to turn the circuits off and back on with the simple click of a button. NOTE: Once a circuit is turned off, no dirty electricity or power frequency electric fields will radiate from the circuit’s supply wire.
  • Install DIRTY ELECTRICITY FILTERS in your bedroom. (More on these filters later.)

GO WIRED!

As much as possible, use wired connections rather than wireless connections for your Internet, telephone, and other needs.
FOR EXAMPLE….

Use WIRED INTERNET rather than WiFi.

This means connecting your computer(s) to your Internet modem/router via ethernet cable(s) rather than wirelessly. When doing this, it is best to use shielded Ethernet cables with grounded Ethernet adapters. If you do opt to use a wireless Internet (WiFi) system…

  • Keep the WiFi modem/router in a location that is as far from you and others in your home as possible.
  • Consider shielding the modem/router. Shields such as the Signal Tamer and WaveCage reduce the strength of radiation emitted by a WiFi modem/router while still allowing it to function.
  • Turn OFF the WiFi on your computer or laptop when you are not using the Internet.
  • Disable the WiFi on your modem/router when you are not using the Internet. Or better yet, unplug the modem/router entirely. This is particularly important when you sleep.

Use WIRED COMPUTER PERIPHERALS (e.g., keyboard, mouse, speakers) rather than wireless models.

Then make sure to turn OFF the Bluetooth on your computer.

Connect your printer to your computer using a USB PRINTER CABLE.

Then make sure to turn OFF the Wifi on your printer.

Use a CORDED LANDLINE PHONE at home and work.

Use this type of phone rather than a cell phone or cordless phone as much as possible. You can forward your cell phone number to your landline to ensure you don’t miss calls. (When choosing a corded landline phone, it is best to select a model that does not require AC power to operate. It is also a good idea to use the phone’s speaker function or an air tube headset when on calls.)

When you do need to use your cell phone…

  • Text rather than talk whenever possible.
  • Create distance between yourself and your cell phone when talking, by using an AIR TUBE HEADSET/EARBUDS or the phone’s speaker function. The goal is to keep your cell phone away from your head and body. The farther the better! (You may need a headphone jack adapter to be able to plug an air tube headset or earbuds into your phone, for example: a lightning to headphone jack adapter for iPhones.)
  • Avoid using wireless headsets or earpieces. They emit electromagnetic radiation directly into your head.
  • Keep your phone in airplane mode when you are not actively using it.
  • Do NOT carry your cell phone in your pocket, bra, sock, or anywhere else on your body.
  • When using your cell phone (or tablet) to watch movies, read books, listen to music, etc. download the content when possible and then watch, read, or listen to it with your phone in airplane mode. Make sure WiFi, Bluetooth, and other wireless features are turned OFF as well.
  • It is possible to create a wired connection between your cell phone and Internet service, for browsing the web, streaming movies, etc. When you do this, your phone will have Internet connectivity, but not cell service. To create this wired connection, you’ll need one or more adapters and a shielded ethernet cable. Here are a few examples of suitable adapters  –  iPhone Option 1: Lightning to Ethernet Adapter  iPhone Option 2: Ethernet + Power Adapter with Lightning (plus your charging cord) iPhone Option 3: Apple USB Ethernet Adapter and Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter (plus your charging cord)  Android Phones (with micro-USB): USB 2.0 OTG Micro-B to Fast Ethernet Adapter.

GET RID OF YOUR SMART UTILITY METER

Smart utility (e.g., electric, water) meters emit RF/microwave radiation and some models also generate dirty electricity.  If you have a smart utility meter on your house, contact your utility company to see if you can have it replaced with an ANALOG meter or a digital meter that does NOT transmit data from your meter back to your utility company wirelessly. (An analog meter is the best option!)

If you cannot have your smart meter replaced, there are ways to shield the radiation emitted by the meter. This is especially important to consider if your meter is located directly outside a bedroom or another room where you or others spend a lot of time.

IDENTIFY AND FIX WIRING ERRORS

NEC code-violating wiring errors in homes and other buildings (e.g., improper neutral-to-neutral and neutral-to-ground connections) can cause large magnetic fields. If these errors exist in your home, they should be fixed, especially if the magnetic fields they create affect rooms where you and family members spend significant time. The process of identifying, tracing, and fixing these wiring errors typically requires the help of an EMF specialist and licensed electrician. More details on this are beyond the scope of this article, but will be covered in an upcoming blog. TACKLE DIRTY ELECTRICITY

Dirty electricity is created by electronics, energy-efficient lights, and many modern appliances and other electrical devices that must change or manipulate electricity in one way or another to operate. Once created, dirty electricity spreads. Some radiates directly off devices into the air. Even more travels throughout a building via the wiring in walls and ceilings and sometimes under floors. It also moves up and down power cords that are plugged into electrical outlets.  As it flows along wires and cords, dirty electricity emits potentially harmful EMFs into rooms and other spaces where people spend time. Dirty electricity can also travel from building to building via power lines and other means.

There are two MAIN strategies for reducing dirty electricity in homes and other buildings – 1) Eliminate or reduce sources of dirty electricity in your environment and 2) Install dirty electricity filters. These strategies are typically used together to achieve the best results.

 

ELIMINATE OR REDUCE SOURCES OF DIRTY ELECTRICITY IN YOUR ENVIRONMENT

Here are few examples of ways to do this.

 

  • Replace energy-efficient light bulbs (e.g., compact fluorescent light bulbs, low voltage halogen bulbs) with traditional incandescent bulbs or halogen incandescent bulbs (i.e., 120 Volt halogen bulbs). These types of light bulbs won’t generate dirty electricity. [Some LED bulbs are okay as well, but some are not. If you purchase LED bulbs, make sure they are line voltage LEDs that run on 120 Volts, which is the voltage of conventional AC electricity.]
  • Turn off and unplug electronics and other electrical devices when you are not using them. Good examples include computers, printers, TVs, video game systems, WiFi routers, battery chargers, etc.
  • Replace light dimmer switches with regular ON/OFF switches.
  • Use your laptop in battery mode whenever possible. If you use the laptop while it’s plugged into an AC power source, make sure to ground the laptop. For more information about how to do this, read “Safer Use of Computers” by building biologist, Oram Miller.
  • When buying new appliances and equipment (e.g., HVAC equipment, washing machines, pool pumps), avoid models with variable speed motors.

INSTALL DIRTY ELECTRICITY FILTERS

These filters target the dirty electricity flowing along the wiring in buildings. The less dirty electricity there is on building wires, the less that will radiate into rooms and other spaces where people spend time. The Greenwave filters shown below are easy to use. You plug them into electrical outlets to reduce the dirty electricity present on nearby wiring.

You can measure the effectiveness of dirty electricity filters with a plug-in EMI meter. This type of meter can also be used to identify dirty electricity sources and to guide the installation of dirty electricity filters for optimal results. It can help you identify the best number of the filters to install in each room and the best combination of outlets to choose for installation.

Did we miss the memo?

About 5 years ago, I began to notice that a lot of people in my orbit – friends, family, colleagues – were complaining of ill health. Some were being diagnosed with conditions I’d never heard of while others were experiencing chronic fatigue and a general lack of well-being. It got me to thinking and then researching. What I’ve learned through a lot of deep digging both surprised and deeply concerned me.

An EXPLOSION OF CHRONIC DISEASE has quietly descended upon the United States. Over the past generation, 36 diseases and chronic health conditions have more than doubled in prevalence. Twenty of these conditions more than tripled and 16 more than quadrupled.

Until recently, none of the 36 fast-growing diseases and chronic conditions exceeded typical global norms. In fact, prior to 1990, the prevalence of these conditions was just a fraction of current levels. Since then, the U.S. has added more than 394 million new cases and now leads the rest of the world by a wide margin. At least 170 million Americans are affected by at least one of the fast-growing diseases or conditions. The annual economic burden to society is nearly $3 trillion in increased health costs, decreased productivity, lost wages, etc. The social, emotional, and psychological cost to sufferers and their families is incalculable.

A New Era of Disease

Several characteristics appear to make the 36 fast-growing diseases and chronic conditions part of a “new era of disease.”

  • First, they are “GERMLESS.”
    Today, germs are no longer mostly to blame for our poor health. All 36 fast-growing diseases and conditions are “germless,” meaning they are NOT infectious maladies caused by bacteria, viruses, and the like. Instead, scientists believe they develop as a result of diet, lifestyle, or a host of environmental factors. In this sense, they are modern “man-made” ailments. They are diseases of civilization!
  • Second, they fall mostly within FOUR EMERGING DISEASE GROUPS.
    The 36 fastest-growing diseases and chronic conditions are not simply the usual suspects. While cardiovascular disease and cancers still persist in the U.S., the diseases experiencing the fastest growth and highest costs are associated primarily with four emerging disease groups: neurological disorders, auto-inflammatory diseases, sleep insufficiency, and obesity. Only three cancers (i.e., leukemia, melanoma, and squamous cell cancer) are currently among the fastest growing diseases.

    These emerging disease groups are mostly system-focused. Each is highly associated with either neurological, autoimmune, inflammatory, or metabolic processes. This means the 36 fast-growing diseases and chronic conditions attack either our brain, nervous system, immune system, or core ability to create vital energy.

FOUR EMERGING DISEASE GROUPS

 

  • Finally, there are NO CURES for most, if not all, of the conditions.
    While some of the fast-growing diseases and chronic conditions may be preventable by changing diet, lifestyle, or environmental exposures, definitive cures remain elusive. This proves frustrating for the many Americans (more than half!) already suffering from one or more of these conditions. Some say it feels like a life sentence of managing symptoms (usually with prescription drugs), with limited hope of full recovery.

    Even prevention may prove challenging. Avoiding dietary triggers (such as processed sugar) and lifestyle factors (such as poor sleep habits, inactivity, and smoking) seems relatively straightforward. But, dodging potential environmental causes is infinitely more problematic, especially those environmental factors not entirely within our control. For example, how can we totally avoid exposures to airborne chemicals or EMF pollution (i.e., electromagnetic fields/radiation)? These two environmental factors, along with pesticides, have each grown by more than 3000% since 1990. All three have been scientifically associated with the main diseases driving the current U.S. health crisis.

Is a Single Molecule to Blame for the Current Health Crisis?

After careful analysis of available research on the 36 fast-growing diseases and chronic conditions, I published a paper in 2016 titled, “The Root Cause in the Dramatic Rise of Chronic Disease.” The paper links all 36 fast-growing diseases and conditions to a single molecule in the body called peroxynitrite. To simplify, let’s call peroxynitrite, P.

Much of the scientific community has been keenly aware of the connection between P and chronic disease for more than a decade. According to a top team of scientists at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), P is associated with more than sixty chronic diseases. In their landmark paper, “Nitric Oxide and Peroxynitrite in Health and Disease” (2007), the NIH team established P as one of the most devastating molecules created in the human body. In addition to linking it to more than 100 biological disruptions, the NIH team connected P with cancer, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Hundreds of scientists have shown that P both causes and acts in concert with other biological factors such as chronic inflammation and oxidative stress (i.e., high levels of free radicals in the body). It also cripples the mitochondria’s ability to create energy (ATP). These four biomarkers are highly correlated to most of the diseases of civilization, including all 36 fast-growing diseases and chronic conditions. According to U.S. government website, PUBMED, at least 8,000 studies confirm the extensive biochemical havoc P creates, including the more than 100 biological effects reported NIH.

Peroxynitrite destroying DNA

So what causes P in the body? Research points to several external factors shown to trigger production of P. For example:

  • Sugar in our diet, in particular high fructose corn syrup
  • Glyphosate in wheat, corn, soy, and other products
    Glyphosate is the active ingredient in herbicides used to control weeds (e.g., Mansanto’s RoundUp). Big industry now uses glyphosate to accelerate/increase crop yields. As a result, glyphosate is becoming more and more common in our food supply.
  • Other pesticides
  • Electromagnetic (EMF) pollution
    Electromagnetic pollution refers to the artificial electromagnetic fields and radiation (EMF/EMR) associated with wireless devices, consumer electronics, modern appliances, energy efficient lighting, electricity, and much more. Experts estimate we are now exposed to levels of electromagnetic radiation that are billions of times higher than those found in nature. Our exposure to EMF pollution began in the early 1900s when electricity was introduced into homes and other buildings. It has increased exponentially over the past 30 years as a result of the wireless and electronics revolutions and a strong push for energy efficiency. Interestingly, this is the same 30-year period during which the prevalence of new era “germless” diseases grew dramatically. A coincidence? Likely not!!
  • Chemical exposures
  • Heavy metal exposures

As alluded to above, high levels of P in the body can lead to other internal conditions associated with the development of disease and chronic health problems. These include oxidative stress, nitrative stress, chronic inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, autonomic dysfunction, and epithelial/endothelial dysfunction. These internal conditions can in turn lead to the production of even more P in the body. A vicious cycle of sorts!

The connection research scientists have established between peroxynitrite (P) and disease is exciting because it points to a possible path for identifying cures. If this molecule and its triggers could be controlled, the incidence of many devastating diseases and chronic conditions might be reduced or eliminated. Shockingly, it appears that insights about P from thousands of scientists have not made their way to the medical community. Many doctors have never heard of (P). In general, there is limited consensus among medical practitioners about the root causes of new era diseases and even fewer ideas about effective cures. The best many doctors do today is prescribe drugs for symptom management.

If Scientists Know, Why Don’t We?……. Did We Miss the Memo?

The more I learned about the explosion of disease in the U.S. and the existence of possible root causes, the more incredulous I became. Why hadn’t I heard of this burgeoning health crisis? Sure, I’d read articles here and there on individual diseases. But, I don’t remember seeing major headlines or news segments outlining the big picture (i.e., the fact that many diseases and chronic conditions have skyrocketed in prevalence, all within a relatively short period of time). No TIME magazine cover story. No 60 Minutes special. No New York Times or Washington Post investigative reports. Only relative silence!

With this in mind, I submitted my findings to the U.S. President, several prestigious investigative news agencies, and half a dozen members of the 115th Congress. No response. While more than 4,700 scientists, researchers, and others have read my paper “The Root Cause in the Dramatic Rise of Chronic Disease” (ResearchGate), there seems to be little interest in this topic within the media or political arena. Health care costs are spiraling out of control. Debate on affordable health care options rages on. Why is there silence on the health crisis itself? And, if a single molecule sits at the heart of the crisis, why aren’t we closer to finding cures for fast-growing diseases and conditions?

The Plot Thickens…

When I discovered the crucial role peroxynitrite (P) plays in chronic disease, I contacted Dr. Pal Pacher, the lead author from the landmark NIH paper mentioned earlier. I asked Dr. Pacher, “Why don’t we know about peroxynitrite’s role in chronic disease?” He quickly responded that some pharmaceutical companies had tried to create a prescription drug to eliminate P from the body. However, these drug companies gave up because they were unable to synthesize a clean drug for public use. I was stunned.

I actually intended a much broader question, so I repeated it. “Why don’t ‘we’ know? I mean, why doesn’t the public know?” Silence. A chilling implication hung in the air. Could it be that both the medical community and the public are more dependent on the pharmaceutical industry than research scientists to communicate important scientific breakthroughs? This troubling realization points to a huge flaw in how science generally gets translated into clinical medicine. Though the scientific community is firmly aware of P’s role in disease, many physicians and others in the medical community have never heard of it. While disturbing in itself, what follows evokes an even more frightening question. Does this mean that unless scientific breakthroughs are successfully translated into prescription drugs or medical products, the medical community and the general public are left in the dark?

Later, after more research, I discovered more than 20 natural scavengers which can reduce, or possibly eliminate, P in the body. Herbs, spices, and supplements such rosemary, green tea, garlic, ginger, cloves, turmeric, vitamin E, and mega doses of citric acid (Vitamin C) are all capable of reducing levels of P. That’s when a light bulb really went on for me. Two epiphanies suddenly exploded into view.

  • First, why would any pharmaceutical company create a wonder drug that could eliminate disease for 170 million people? This single drug could potentially eliminate the need for hundreds of already successful drugs overnight. Profits would plummet. Shareholders would not be happy.
  • Second, if there are really so many natural scavengers for P, pharmaceutical companies may have little incentive to sink research and development dollars into creating a drug to reduce or eliminate it.

Conclusion

We’re living in a new era of disease. Germless neurological, autoimmune, inflammatory, and metabolic diseases are growing out of control. Together, government websites such as CDC, NCBI, and NIH report more than 700 million cases of 36 fast-growing diseases and chronic conditions in the U.S. More than 400 million new cases have been diagnosed in a single generation. This explosion of disease in the U.S. is crippling our economy, with an estimated annual cost to society of more than $2.7 trillion each year!

It seems clear the U.S. is experiencing a serious health crisis, and yet, the public remains mostly unaware of the epidemic. Worse yet, important scientific insights about potential root causes of chronic disease (i.e., peroxynitrite and related biological factors) are not finding their way to the medical community. Consequently, nearly 53% of Americans are left without access to possible cures and treatments for more than 3 dozen fast-growing diseases and chronic conditions. Worst of all, no one seems to be raising the warning flag about this important social and economic issue. Not our leaders. Not the media. Why not?

Important questions need to be answered!

    • Why hasn’t the public been informed about the scope and cost of the health crisis currently plaguing the U.S.?
    • What is preventing important scientific insights from more than 8,000 studies on peroxynitrite (P) and other related biological factors from finding their way to doctors and other medical practitioners?
    • Why isn’t more being done to find ways to control production of peroxynitrite (P) in the body?

Safety of Wireless Technologies: The Scientific View

Wireless technologies have proliferated since 1990.   Until now, the impact of wireless technologies on society has been thought to be largely positive. Wireless technologies offer convenience and empower mobility while delivering wire-free access and instantaneous communications. Nearly 300 million Americans own at least one wireless device and more than one billion wireless devices are now in use. 

We have come to believe that microwave radiation from wireless technologies is safe. Yes, almost all wireless devices like cell phones, tablets, computers and game consoles use microwaves just like a microwave ovenSo, what does the science actually say?   

The 2012 BioInitiative Report, a 1,540-page study co-authored by a group of twenty-nine international scientists, cites more than 3,000 scientific studies that associate low-level exposures from wireless technologies and other sources of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) with dozens of diseases and biological effects in humans.

In May 2011, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified microwave and radiofrequency radiation from wireless technologies as a possible human carcinogen (Group 2B).  

• Microwave and radiofrequency radiation can cause all Cancers.

In June of 1990, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was preparing to recommend the unthinkable: classify electromagnetic radiation (EMR) as a Class B-1 probable carcinogen. After a decade of research, leading scientists at the EPA had concluded that EMR probably causes cancer. By November of that year, White House science advisor, Allan Bromley, convinced the EPA to withdraw the 393 page report. Within days the conclusion to the report had been deleted and the U.S. government initiated the process of disassembling the EPA’s regional radiation labs. It would be another two decades before the cancer connection would finally be recognized.

• Electromagnetic radiation probably causes all Cancers

As far back as 1981, there was a growing concern about possible health effects from exposure to electromagnetic radiation from radiofrequency transmitters and telecommunication systems. The World Health Organization called a meeting to discuss global health impacts of radio waves and microwaves. The Geneva meeting, attended by 14 nations, surveyed over hundreds of scientific studies, with most showing biological effects from low-level exposures to microwaves and other EMFs. Bio-effects reported included alteration of neurons, decreases in serotonin, neurotransmitter imbalances, behavioral effects, convulsions, tremors, damage to the retina, cell death, chromosome aberrations, and DNA damage. It was at this meeting where the term “electro-pollution” was first coined.  

In 1971, the U.S. Navy reviewed of the science on wireless. Lt. Zorach Glaser, PhD documented the global science in the meta-study, “Reported Biological Phenomena (Effects) and Clinical Manifestations Attributed to Microwave and Radio-Frequency Radiation.” Glaser found more than 2,300 studies that link microwave signals and other EMR with biological impacts. The paper cites 132 different biological effects, symptoms, and diseases linked with wireless technologies.

As the above examples illustrate, the science connecting wireless signals and other forms of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) with biological effects and disease has existed for decades and is extensive. In fact, there are now more than 5,000 studies that link EMR with at least 132 biological impacts and more than 50 diseases.

Humans Are Electrical Creatures

Low levels of electrical energy can affect our health because humans are electrical creatures and our biological welfare depends critically on a delicate balance of electrical activity. Our brains and hearts utilize electrical impulses to function. Doctors use EKGs to measure the electrical activity of the heart and EEGs to gauge the electrical health of the brain. Trillions of cells exchange electrical messages, which coordinate and orchestrate our body chemistry.

The key components of these biological communications, which include ions, neurons and neurotransmitters, all depend crucially on low-level electrical energy. Even the cells in humans are electrical, operating at around 25 millivolts. Nobel Prize-nominee Dr. Robert Becker, known for his work and research in electrophysiology and electromedicine, details the electrical nature of our bodies in his landmark book, The Body Electric.

So, given the electrical nature of our bodies, what happens to the integrity of the “body electric” as the levels of electrical energy swell all around us? In particular, when will the most vulnerable to EMR—disproportionally women, children, and the elderly—pass the tipping point?

This question may already be answered by a phenomenon that has quietly unfolded over the past two decades: overall health in the U.S. has substantially declined and there has been a dramatic, yet unrecognized rise in chronic disease.

Statistics culled from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and PubMed are staggering. By 2015 in the U.S. population of 322 million, the number of instances of 36 fast-growing chronic diseases and medical conditions had mushroomed to nearly 700 million. That’s an average of 2.1 diseases and chronic conditions per American!

Many of these diseases and conditions were relatively unknown until the 1990s. Now they have become household names–autism, Alzheimer’s, ADHD, fibromyalgia, COPD, hypothyroidism, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), erectile dysfunction (ED), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), bipolar disorder, to name a few. Other more familiar diseases and conditions, including diabetes, asthma, depression, anxiety and leukemia, have also sky-rocketed.

Despite the massive amount of evidence to the contrary, the U.S. media and federal government agencies doggedly cling to the notion that wireless technologies are harmless (i.e., safe). Regulators persistently claim that the science showing biological effects is “inconclusive,” even though no public figure or federal agency will actually say, “microwave radiation from wireless is safe.” Why? Well, one reason is that federal agencies like the FCC and FDA reject science that considers non-thermal biological effects of EMR. This means no study showing biological effects from wireless is to be considered if the wireless signal fails to heat tissue.

The thermal effect limitation opens a convenient loophole. It allows regulators to ignore 5,000 studies showing biological effects from permissible levels of wireless and other EMR. It also allows regulators to enforce a model for public exposure standards that was developed in the 1950s.

Biological Mechanisms

Another reason critics have been reluctant to acknowledge the massive amount of evidence linking EMR and disease is that they point to a lack of consensus for a biological mechanism connecting EMR and disease. Yet, recent science suggests there are may be multiple biological pathways connecting EMR with disease and biological impacts. Here are three possible mechanisms which may act independently, or possibly as a system:

Voltage-gated Calcium Ion (VGCI) Theory

In 2013, Dr. Martin Pall, Ph.D., identifies just one possible biological mechanism. Pall’s “Electromagnetic Fields Act Via Activation of Voltage-Gated Calcium Channels to Produce Beneficial or Adverse Effects” (2013) outlines the process by which a bio-electrical mechanism enables wireless signals to activate systemic biological chaos and unleash disease. He describes voltage-gates within ion channels that act like switches, regulating the flow of ion messengers. Pall cites 23 studies that link EMR with voltage-gates switching on and off unpredictably. This ad-hoc activity of the voltage gates leads to the disruption of calcium ion (Ca++) cellular outflows and inflows. EMR-triggered changes in calcium ion levels then lead to increased levels of the anion nitric oxide (NO) and the increased production of the dangerous and prolific, oxidative agent, peroxynitrite (ONOO¯).

Peroxynitrite has been implicated in more than 60 chronic diseases by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) paper “Nitric Oxide and Peroxynitrite in Health and Disease.” The NIH paper details the massive destructive capabilities of peroxynitrite, including at least 97 biochemical disruptions. In a recent interview, lead author of the paper, Dr. Pal Pacher, Ph.D., agreed that peroxynitrite is likely the “smoking gun” for chronic disease. Pacher has authored 260 peer-reviewed publications and is listed among the top 50 most-cited researchers in the world in pharmacology and toxicology.

The connection between wireless technologies and peroxynitrite is pivotal. When peroxynitrite levels rise in the body, biological systems are thrown into chaos. A recent article details the association of peroxynitrite with 36 fast-growing diseases, all of which have more than doubled since 1990.

In the paper, seven common biological markers of disease are identified: oxidative stress (OX), nitrative stress (NOX), mitochondrial dysfunction (MD), autonomic dysfunction (AD), epithelial/ endothelial dysfunction (ED) and chronic systemic inflammation (CI). The final biological marker, a molecule called peroxynitrite, is both associated with all 36 diseases and each of the six biological markers. Whether peroxynitrite is the prime mover through initial causation, or simply an accelerator of the six biomarkers, its link to EMR and in particular, wireless, is undeniable. The “Root Cause in Dramatic Rise of Chronic Disease,” calls the coincidence of these 7 biofactors, P-Factor.

Below is a graphic mapping the relationship of the six biofactors to peroxynitrite.

Chronic Inflammation

Chronic Inflammation (CI) is a condition which can be created by a chronically triggered immune system. In the case of chronic exposures from EMR, scientists have shown how EMR can cause inflammatory cytokines and histamines to be released. What follows is a chronic state of inflammation. Over time this chronic state can triggers an oxidative response, which in turn, creates more inflammation.(12)

This inflammatory response is spelled out in the BioInitiative Report (1) by Dr. Olle Johansson, PhD of the Karolinska Institute (home of the Nobel Prize). In his article, Dr. Johansson shows how electrical fields trick the innate immune system into thinking the body is being attacked by a foreign invader like a virus or bacteria. Johansson shows how the immune system triggers a release of inflammatory substances as a response to the “perceived” attack. As exposures to electromagnetic radiation (EMR), particularly wireless radiation, is continuous, chronic exposures from microwaves, produce a chronic inflammatory response. Chronic inflammation eventually exhausts the adrenal glands, leading to fatigue, cognitive impacts, fuzzy thinking, irritability, anxiety and memory loss. More important, chronic inflammation is linked to almost all germless, chronic diseases.

Oxidative Stress

It turns out that the natural environmental stress response entails the release of an oxidative burst at the cellular level. Studies show that EMR creates both damaging free-radicals (Oxidative Stress) (OX) and Nitrative Stress (NOX). In his survey of 140 studies investigating the EMR association between oxidative or nitrative stress with EMR, Dr. Henry Lai discovered a powerful link between the two. His paper shows that 123 out of 140 studies link cell phones, Wi-Fi and other EMR with increased oxidative stress (OX) and nitrative stress (NOX).

EMR and P-Factor

It should also be noted that as cited in Appendix A, ten of the most often-cited biological impacts from EMR are also directly linked with the effects from peroxynitrite. All ten are also biologically-linked with the other six biofactors. The linkages are mainly through inflammation and free radical production (oxidative stress). However there is increasingly evidence that the coincidence of the following: 1) EMR, 2) peroxynitrite and the 3) six biofactors are connected with the 36 fastest-growing diseases in the US.

There has been a sudden explosion of disease in the US. Some call it a health crisis. While there have been over 400 million cases of at least one of 36 fast-growing diseases since 1990, the number of wireless devices has grown by more than 6085%. In a single generation 36 diseases have doubled, 20 have tripled, and 16 quadrupled. The annual economic cost to the US: $2.7 trillion. The two trends are eerily correlated. But what does the science say about causation?

According to merging science, the chain of causation linking microwave radiation and EMI to chronic disease and aging outcomes may look something like this:

In the graphic above, the triangle represents a potential external trigger for P-Factor like microwave radiation (MW) or dirty electricity. The body’s natural stress response to an environmental stressor like EMR triggers one, or all of the following:

  • Peroxynitrite (ONOO) – through the activation of dramatic changes in calcium ion levels caused by calcium ion voltage gates being triggered by EMR. (11)
  • Chronic Inflammation (CI), which is chronically triggered by immune system activation by EMR, which in turn, causes cytokines and histamines to be released. This level of inflammation also triggers a oxidative response, which in turn, creates more inflammation. (12)
  • Oxidative Stress (OX): the natural environmental stress response entails the release of an oxidative burst at the cellular level. Studies show EMR creates both damaging free-radicals (OX) and
  • Nitrative Stress (NOX). Henry Lai surveyed 140 studies associating oxidative or nitrative stress with EMR. 123 out of 140 studies link cell phones, Wi-Fi and other EMR with increased oxidative stress (OX) and nitrative stress (NOX).
  • Autonomic Dysfunction (AD): EMR triggers the autonomic nervous system (9): It creates autonomic dysfunction (AD). 111 studies show microwave/ radio frequency radiation trigger false signals within central nervous system (CNS), which can then speed up heart rate (heart palpitations), disturb sleep, affect sex drive and disrupt cellular signaling (communications).

Dramatic Change in our Electrical Environment:

Our electrical environment has changed dramatically since 1990. Wireless devices have grown by more than 6085%. Recent articles predict there will be 20 billion Internet connected devices (IOT) world-wide by 2020.

Passing the Tipping Point?

Statistics on chronic disease suggest millions of people may have already passed the tipping point of safety from exposure to wireless and other electromagnetic radiation. Evidence of increasing levels of electrical energy in the environment helps complete the picture of the dramatic rise in chronic disease. In 2003, the World Health Organization (WHO) described background levels of electrical energy around the world as “many orders of magnitude times higher” than the natural environment. Now, in typical U.S. cities, people using wireless technology are exposed to EMR levels 40-100 times higher than the levels described by WHO just over a decade ago.

Despite warnings from more than 7,000 scientists linking EMR to harmful biological effects and disease, the general public in the US has not been sufficiently informed. Somehow the science has not made its way through the tight nets of so many federal agencies. Despite being entrusted by the Environmental Protection ACT with the responsibility for protecting us from harm, the FCC and FDA have failed to communicate the link between our electrical environment and our health.

Conclusion

The mechanism and path of causation has been eloquently laid out in the science. Peer-reviewed science asserts that the connection between wireless and calcium ion channel disruption has been established (Pall). The link between high intracellular calcium levels and peroxynitrite is widely accepted. Pacher’s NIH paper suggests peroxynitrite is a smoking gun for more than 60 chronic diseases. Chronic diseases are currently plaguing more than 170 million Americans without a widely recognized cause and no cure in sight.

Taken together, the research findings from NIH, the U.S. Navy, Martin Pall, and scores of concerned scientists outline the following chain of causation:

Wireless Signal >>triggers voltage-gated calcium ion channels >> peroxynitrite >>Disease

There is a huge elephant in the room. It is time to begin the honest dialogue on the potential hazards of wireless. We can continue to deny the science but we cannot avoid the consequences of such denial. The Environmental Protection Act admonishes federal agencies to protect the American people by monitoring their actions, which could potentially cause harm. Instead these agencies, by denying non-thermal biological effects from microwave radiation, have shielded us from the conversation about wireless technologies and our health.

In the US, we’re facing a tipping point. Disease is dramatically on the rise, symptoms from wireless technologies like headaches, sleep issues, mood swings, joint pain, brain fog, memory issues and poor learning are plaguing our lives. Four new categories of disease have exploded. Autoimmune, inflammatory, metabolic and neurological diseases have become endemic. Millions are suffering. Our nation has been slow to make the connection between our decline in health and our electrical environment. Meanwhile, the weight of the science is, indeed, conclusive. Only one question remains:

 

“Will we have the courage to listen and embrace our moral fiber to act?”

Dozens of studies confirm that everything from wireless exposures from cell phones, Bluetooth and Wifi to magnetic fields, radiated from laptops, computers and space heaters, can affect our health.

Should we also be concerned about increasing levels of dirty electricity?

Dirty electricity is a recently-coined term, which describes electromagnetic interference (EMI) or electrical noise that radiates from devices, modern appliances and electrical circuits. In the past decade, it has become ubiquitous. Research suggests that this type of chaotic electrical energy (4) can trigger inflammation (1); and headaches, lack of focus, irritability and anxiety. (5) Two studies show dirty electricity may even cause cancer. (6, 7)

Could dirty electricity be putting the US at a competitive disadvantage in education, business and sport? Let’s take a look:

Exactly when and how did this potential threat from dirty electricity arise? The ‘when’ question evokes a simple guess. While dirty electricity has been around for more than a generation, it probably only became a health factor in the past decade or, so. Let’s see why:

Explosion of digital devices and efficiency lighting

High levels of dirty electricity are a result of the unprecedented explosion of electronics and green technologies. The dramatic growth of digital devices and adoption of efficiency lighting is creating a logjam on our electrical circuits. Every added device plugged into your electrical outlets increases the chaos of competing electrical signals. And that can create an even bigger problem.

Rising levels of Dirty Electricity

Our living environments are suddenly filled with potentially harmful electrical energy. Our circuits and devices are throwing off electrical spikes and surges, which are called voltage transients. Ironically voltage transients are both unusable and wasted. The result is rising levels of airborne EMI flooding our living spaces.

And while most don’t notice this invisible phenomenon, something crucial is happening all the same. This interference can radiate ‘positive’ and ‘erratic’ energy onto our bodies. Scientist have suggested that it then can couple to our bodies and possibly interfere with our own critical biological signals.

Dirty electricity is created by devices that are plugged-in: For example: computers, game consoles, Wi-Fi, battery chargers, fluorescent lights, solar power and anything that uses an AC adapter can cause dirty electricity.

Why should we be concerned? It turns out that radiated electrical energy like dirty electricity has been shown to be bioactive (1). That is, when dirty electricity comes into contact with our bodies, it can fundamentally affect our health. This chaotic electrical energy can couple to our bodies and can cause biological effects in humans. So far, as many as 5000 studies (2) have shown low-levels of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) contributes to at least 132 biological effects and dozens of diseases. (3) Dirty electricity is just one form of EMR and it may be one of the most pernicious. Fortunately it is possibly the only form of EMR, which can be successfully addressed with filtration. Dirty Electricity – is it an emerging global health threat?

Dirty Electricity has become a popular term to describe the EMI radiating from our electrical circuits. Research has shown that this type of chaotic electrical energy (4) can trigger inflammation (1), headaches, lack of focus, irritability and anxiety (5) — and may be associated with cancer. (6, 7)

While dirty electricity is an increasing problem worldwide, global electrical standards outside of the US are cushioning the blow elsewhere. For instance tight regulations in the European Union (EU) on EMI caused by electrical devices serves to reduce the dirty electricity problem by as much as 50% there. But what about in the US?

Asked differently, how does all this excess electrical energy translate into impacting the competitiveness of the US in education, business and sport? The short answer: dirty electricity and other forms of EMR may be affecting our optimal health. Optimal health is crucial to peak performance across each of these areas. But there’s more. Besides optimal health, which implies physical health. There is also a key mental component of optimal health which underlies peak performance within education, business and sport. And this is where EMR may have the greatest impact. Our attitude, attention and cognitive abilities are critically affected by our electrical environment.

In a single generation, the US has quietly experienced a major setback in public health. Eight neurological diseases and conditions have more than tripled with no apparent explanation. Another twenty-eight auto-inflammatory, neurological, sleep and metabolic conditions have more than doubled (9). More than 170 million Americans are living with chronic diseases and/ or medical conditions. Meanwhile both dirty electricity and other EMR has grown by as much as 6085%.

Here is a snapshot of the growth (1990-2015), prevalence and annual cost for the neurologically-based diseases and conditions in the US (9):

There is little evidence that any one of these diseases is caused by germs. Instead all are caused by something in our diet, lifestyle or environment. Research has shown that all these conditions are associated with a single molecule made in the body called peroxynitrite. Let’s call it P. An elite scientific team from the National Institutes of Health has associated peroxynitrite (P) with over one hundred biological effects and sixty chronic diseases in their landmark paper, “Nitric Oxide and Peroxynitrite in Health and Disease.”

So what causes P? Scientists like Dr. Pacher, the lead scientist on the NIH paper, believes one obvious trigger is sugar. In particular, he cites high fructose corn syrup as one chief suspect. Dozens of studies confirm Dr. Pacher’s belief. Dr. Stephanie Seneff of MIT links P with a pesticide that has been added to wheat, corn and soy crops, beginning around 1998. This chemical is called glyphosate – more popularly known as Roundup. Still, the most convincing evidence may arise from the effects of the burgeoning electrical environment which surrounds us every day. This is the meteoric rise of our constant exposures to EMR.

Dr. Martin Pall, PhD of Washington State University makes a strong case (10) that electrical energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from devices like cell phones and Wi-Fi is disrupting key messaging within and without our cells. Apparently all this additional electrical energy is affecting concentrations of calcium ions, which use electrochemical techniques to signal the cells. These imbalances can create inflammation and free radicals (oxidative stress) in the body. Both inflammation and oxidative stress are associated with almost every chronic disease from cancer to diabetes; from heart disease to Alzheimer’s. They are also associated with the fastest-growing neurological and autoimmune conditions like anxiety, MS, depression, sleep issues, bi-polar, erectile dysfunction, diabetes II and many more.

Could the dramatic increase in electromagnetic radiation in the environment from wireless signals, electronic devices and dirty electricity be stealing our peak performance? When you think about the potential impacts from inflammation and free radicals in undermining performance in athletics, academics and even business, it’s not much of stretch.

Substantial science has already linked electrical fields to health, disease and inflammation. But most of us are still blaming emotional, physical and psychological stress for our performance shortcomings. Perhaps we should simply turn off our technology when we sleep and install a few dirty electricity filters and test the theory. The science suggests it wouldn’t take long to see changes in our attitude, attention, focus and most of all – our performance. And it would be a whole lot cheaper!

I know. You are thinking “Dirty Electricity!? What a bunch of hullaballo!” Unfortunately, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this isn’t some new age concoction spun from thin air just to sell you something. It is a real thing. What you should be asking is, if Dirty Electricity is real then why are we only now finding out about it.

The answer: it didn’t really exist before the advent of these tricky little complex devices that are now imbedded in almost everything. Let me explain.

THE EARLY DAYS

Back in the days of Edison, electricity was so much simpler. It was the electricity itself that was a marvel. You may remember (or maybe you don’t) something like the red wire goes to the red screw and the green wire goes to the green screw and Voila! Let there be light.

I remember being a kid and taking apart the television set in the garage. Boy were my parents upset. But before my capture and scolding, I remember seeing the actual wires and tubes (that is why they called it the tube). It was really a pretty simple device when it was first invented.

Everything back then was pretty simple. It may be news to some of you millennials but cars in the 80s actually had non-computerized carburetors? In fact, you could just take them apart and fix them just like that without any need for a specialized, computerized diagnostic tool from the manufacturer. These days every car looks like a computer under the hood.

In fact, just last week, our washing machine broke because the computer went out. Do we really need a computer to select between hot and cold or colors and whites? Seriously people. And then, we went to buy a new countertop water heater, for making tea, and wouldn’t you know it we found one with over 30 setting and it had (you guessed it) a motherboard inside of it. You might be surprised to know that we just bought a good old-fashioned tea kettle. Some things really should not be computerized.

OK SO COMPUTERS ARE EVERYWHERE, SO WHAT!

Well, it turns out the only thing these electronic motherboards are doing with their miniscule circuitry is redirecting the electric streams of energy to whirl in more and more complicated circuits. These complex circuits are filtering, squeezing, and transforming the voltage and amperage, thereby manipulating these gullible baby electrons into a dizzying dance of ones and zeros. There you have it – computers demystified.

Now you may be familiar with the law of thermodynamics that says energy cannot be created or destroyed. Well, what happens as these electrons are whirling about, they are loosing little bits here and there at every turn. Imagine a sort of packed dancefloor at a boisterous night club where each electron is trying desperately not to spill their drinks. Well, we all know what that floor looks like at the end of the night.

These motherboard circuits are leaking electrical frequencies that have not been observed before. They create what is now coming to be known as erratic spikes of electrical energy. In other words, they are leaking electricity into our living environment. And what is the only reason that it is becoming a bigger problem? Everything has computers in it.

SO, WHAT NOW?

What are we going to do about this!? First, you can thank me for alerting you to another unseen obstacle in the health gauntlet that we are so delicately trying to navigate our kids through. But, are you really supposed to stop buying anything computerized, like flat screen TVs and computers and washers and dryers and refrigerators and … ok, slow down! This just comes with the territory. It is after all almost 2020. And just like back in the days when we all realized that tap water was really not good for us (if this is news to you then you better catch up), it is time to wake up to the reality of electrical pollution that is all around us.

Greenwave filters target the DIRTY ELECTRICITY traveling along building wiring in homes and other settings.

They do NOT get rid of ambient wireless radiation (i.e., from wireless devices and infrastructure). Nor do they eliminate the extremely low frequency electric and magnetic fields associated with “clean” 50/60 Hz AC electricity. These types of EMF pollution require different mitigation strategies.

What Is Dirty Electricity?

Dirty electricity refers to surges and spikes of electromagnetic energy traveling along power lines and building wires where only standard (“clean”) AC electricity should be. This type of EMF pollution is also known as dirty power, electrical noise, line noise, and power line EMI (electromagnetic interference).

Dirty electricity is created by consumer electronics, modern appliances, energy-efficient lights, and quite a few other items that run on electricity. Why? Because many of these devices no longer use standard AC electricity “as is.” Instead, they must change or “manipulate” electrical current in one way or another in order to operate.

For example, many electrical devices today must convert standard 60 Hertz, 120 Volt (or 50 Hertz, 220-240 Volt) AC electricity (alternating current) into other forms of electricity [such as lower voltage direct current (DC) or higher frequency AC] in order to operate. And, many devices now draw power intermittently, in short bursts, rather than continuously, by turning the flow of power to a device “on” and “off” repeatedly, sometimes thousands of times per second.

These processes interrupt the smooth flow of standard AC electricity, creating harmonics and spikes of electrical energy known as voltage transients. Once created, this unusable “dirty electricity” can spread throughout a building and to other buildings via wiring, power lines, and other means. As it travels, dirty electricity radiates potentially harmful electromagnetic fields into environments where people live, learn, work, and more.

How Do I Know If I Have Dirty Electricity in My Home and Other Places?

These days, most homes and other buildings have at least some dirty electricity and many have a lot. Some of this dirty electricity comes from outside sources (e.g., nearby buildings) via power lines. The rest is generated by the electronics and other electrical devices used inside. Fortunately, there are tools you can use to determine how much dirty electricity is traveling along the wires in your home and other buildings.

The most precise way to measure and evaluate specific characteristics of the dirty electricity on power lines and building wires is to use an oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer. Unfortunately, these devices can be expensive and require expertise and experience to use effectively.

Greenwave Broadband EMI Meter (By Greenwave International)

Plug-in EMI meters (also known as line noise meters or microsurge meters) are a good alternative for untrained individuals. These meters are cost effective and easy to use. Simply plug them into electrical outlets to get a good estimate of the level of dirty electricity present on nearby wiring.

In addition to helping you determine how much dirty electricity is traveling along your wires, a plug-in EMI meter can also be very helpful in guiding the installation of dirty electricity filters and for evaluating their effectiveness.

Meters used for measuring other types of EMF pollution (i.e., RF meters for wireless radiation, AC electric field meters, and gaussmeters for AC magnetic fields) are often not effective for measuring dirty electricity for a variety of reasons. For example:

 

  • Many of these meters are not sensitive enough to pick up ambient levels of dirty electricity radiation considered unsafe by experts.
  • The frequency range covered by many of these meters does not include some or all dirty electricity frequencies.
  • Many AC electric and magnetic field meters don’t have the ability to distinguish between dirty electricity frequencies and the extremely low frequency electric and magnetic fields associated with standard (“clean”) AC electricity. The professional meters that do have this capability are quite expensive.

What Can I Do About Dirty Electricity?

It is a good idea to reduce dirty electricity in your home and the other places where you spend ample time. Why? Because dirty electricity can interfere with the proper functioning of appliances and electronic equipment, and more importantly, with natural electrical processes within our bodies. Exposure to this type of EMF pollution has been associated with a wide variety of health problems such as cancer, asthma, sleep disturbances, fatigue, skin rashes and tingling sensations, allergy symptoms, headaches, muscle and joint pain, brain fog, memory loss, ADHD symptoms, depression, and more. Experts believe it is the complex nature of dirty electricity frequencies (i.e., their distorted wave forms) that make them particularly detrimental to health and aggravating to those sensitive to EMF pollution.

Here are a few examples of ways to reduce dirty electricity in your home and other spaces.

  • Limit your use of devices known to create dirty electricity.
  • Turn off and unplug electronic devices and other electrical devices when they are not being used.
  • Use standard incandescent light bulbs or 120 Volt (V) halogen bulbs rather than compact fluorescent or LED light bulbs.
  • Replace light dimmer switches with regular on/off switches
  • Install Greenwave filters in electrical outlets.

Greenwave filters utilize state-of-the-art electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtering technology to significantly reduce the dirty electricity (i.e., harmonics and voltage transients) present on the wiring on buildings. This is a direct, effective, and practical way to target this type of EMF pollution. The less dirty electricity there is flowing along building wires, the less that will radiate into your environment.
