The Greenwave Broadband EMI Meter is a tool for measuring the amount of dirty electricity (a.k.a., electrical noise, line noise, EMI) present on the wiring in buildings and for guiding the installation of dirty electricity filters.

Evaluate Your Environment – Do You Have Too Much Dirty Electricity?
With Greenwave’s Broadband EMI Meter, it is easy to find out whether dirty electricity levels in your environment are higher than desirable. The meter presents dirty electricity readings in millivolts (mV). Ideally levels should be below 50 mV in all rooms within your environment. Levels above 100 mV are undesirable and should be reduced if possible.

The process is simple. First, plug the meter into the top socket of an electrical outlet to measure the dirty electricity (i.e., EMI noise) present on nearby wiring (“BEFORE filter” reading).
Next, insert a Greenwave filter into the bottom socket of the same outlet. The “AFTER filter” display screen will show both the initial dirty electricity level at the outlet and the new level in millivolts (mV). It will also show the % reduction in “noise” density.
The meter is also an excellent tool for guiding the installation of Greenwave filters. It can help you identify significant sources of dirty electricity in your environment and determine the best number of filters to install in each room for optimal results.

Buying this Greenwave EMI a few years ago has already paid for itself, When I did a random test on my home electronics found one appliance gave a lot higher Dirty Electricity (DE) than the others. When I looked into the appliance found the electrolytics had such high ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) that if I had not found it so fast, the electrolytics would of destroyed the Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) destroying other components like the switching transistor and the emitter resistor, making the SMPS board uneconomic to repair.
Any electronics service person who see the value of a ESR meter to speed up the time to detect failing electrolytics should also have a EMI meter.
